I love The Ventures. They may be my favorite band of all time. That being said, some of their later works are just not really very good- like this album: a collection of Jim Croce and The Carpenters covers. The songs capture the general feeling of their source material, but feel lifeless overall. There is not much of The Venture's signature twang or energy, and the instrumentation is as vanilla as it gets. This album sounds like elevator music.Of all of the Ventures discography I have tried, this album ranks last. I would not buy this, even if you are DYING for some more Ventures. Go try another group, or better yet, listen to the original songs by Jim Croce and The Carpenters. They're great!
