Excellent thriller with a great cast you would have thought was taken out of today's news. It is about tabloid / click journalism vs. sourced journalism and politicians' exploitation of journalism and journalists to get what they want published or to get what they don't want published not published.If this was a documentary it would be topical, but only get a small fraction of the audience, instead, yes, it is a fictional thriller and yes, it has a great cast at the top of their abilities. Even if you didn't think it was a topical thriller this movie is acting lessons by Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Robin Wright Penn, Helen Mirren, Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and Jeff Daniels. It is said that if you have one or two actors who give you great performances it is the actors that did it, when you have a whole cast of actors giving you the performances it is the director that accomplished it so kudos should go to British director Kevin MacDonald (btw his filmography list is a list of movies that blend documentary and fiction).It is amazing this movie came out in 2009 instead of April 2024.
