My baby loves this piano! Love the different settingsThis was well-received by my six-month old grandson. He can sit and play with it for up to 30 minutes. It has a nice variety of music and isn't loud or off key like so many musical toys. I am thoroughly happy with this purchase! This is the second Baby Einstein item I've purchased as a gift for my new great-niece. (The first was the "belly-level" mirror for use in crib; the mirror is surrounded by high-contrast and bright colors to help with vision development. I'm told she likes it very much.). My great-niece is not quite 3 months old now, so the piano (rated for 3+ months) is still a little advanced for her as far as pushing the notes of the piano, but she'll grow into it. She likes the animal sounds and recorded tunes now. (I've gotten to see her in-person with this toy, and she does interact with it.) I'm very pleased with both my Baby Einstein purchases.Excellent! One should not worry about the switches (which should be up to the adult anyway), just the cloth keyboard. This keyboard plays very well for self-entertainment, but not to compose or play individual notes, just to engage with melody notes from a piece of classical music (rather than adult-annoying kid songs). This piano actually seems to have been a replacement for an earlier Baby Einstein version which was pricier, had individual hard plastic keys, was heavier, more expensive, and broke sooner with a kid who drops their toys a lot. We were concerned about the cloth part because we have a kid who puts everything in the mouth, but this does not seem to have been too much of a problem, except that the sticker on the hard part of the toy, at the top, above the 3 colored instrument lights, got mouthed, chewed, and eventually had to be taken off & the sticky residual cleaned. (By comparison, we once had a cute Vtech stuffed bear which had a hard center body - it was disgusting and unsanitary from mouthing after just a week and a half. We carefully washed and dried it and then gave it away.) We love this Baby Einstein piano! There have been many brands of toy pianos in our house, & the ones with individual hard keys will eventually have a key break off and then the toy is unsafe. No separate keys is actually a positive from a safety standpoint. Love that it has two volume settings too!Love this problem product it really kept our granddaughter focused during tummy timeI am a little torn between 4 stars and 5, because despite a review saying so, I did not realize it doesn't have actual keyboard keys, it's a cushioned section. I was a bit disappointed to discover this, but it turns out to be a pretty good thing for being near so much drool and food. He threw up all over it at one point, I actually washed it in the tub.... and, well, it certainly still works! Just had to dry out for a couple days. How clean it is on the inside I don't know for sure, ha.Baby, now 9 months, still loves this! At 6 months he pounded on it randomly, which was better than toys with only a couple buttons to light things up as he hadn't figured out pushing those buttons. Thus, this toy was much more likely to keep his attention. It has Baby Einstein versions of some classic pieces of music that are reasonably catchy, and with enough variety to not be annoyingly repetitive. And with the different settings (music, numbers, animals in three languages of English, French, Spanish), there's even more variety in what we hear. If it hadn't survived the bath, we would've bought this again, definitely. The baby toy industry has certainly changed since my firstborn back in 1972. Now I enjoy shopping for Grandchildren and the newest is three months old and the product of musician parents. So obviously while we introduce all sorts of ways to explore his world, music is a part of it. I am very impressed with this piano. I wanted something that he could bat at while he sits on my lap at the table. Of course he'll be able to use it when he sits alone, or in a high-chair, but we aren't at that stage yet. I LOVE the soft keys and the general size of the toy. Not too bulky, clumsy or big. Just right. The three different languages is also a huge plus for this family! Of course his dad had to "play" with it first and immediately plunked out some Beethoven. I really can't say enough good things about this item and I'll be exploring Baby Einstein for more gems. Meanwhile, whether your baby is musical or not, THIS is a very versatile toy. Lots of ways to explore, color, sights, lights, sounds and counting and language. Pretty cool for a small package. Get it, you won't be disappointed. This was a gift for my granddaughter and she loves the sounds that it makes.
