I have been really enjoying this book! I play from it with my piano students and they love it, it's relaxing for them to play music that they don't have to sight-read, they can just improvise as I play patterns. There is no book out there quite like it. There are lots of patterns with different sounds and themes to play - exotic/world music, blues, pop, classical. I am working my way through all of the Pattern Play books and it is rewarding. I am up to book 3 now. Although each book is rather expensive, I find myself playing through every book. I have even used an improvisation as background music on stage. Kinney has come up with a great series.
